“Morality” A Dead-Rose Story

Near a year ago, a comic was born. It was speculative, as most things start, before fruition. Real life happened, and we got off track with any number of important things, other projects, whatnot.

We created the first website, which lasted only a few months of updates before fading into obscurity, indeed obscurity in our own minds as well. It became a casual process, and we kept each other updated with ideas, sub-plots, histories, and designs.

The premise was simple, though a great deal of real world studying went into the process. Ninjas versus Zombies. The backdrop of which was our home of Portland. With several concepts and ideas floating around, more research was needed. To see what had been done before, and to distance ourselves from that. With research of ninja legends and stories, zombie legends, and the realistic political and military implications in such a scenario, we had our work cut out. Plus a method of feasibly introducing magic into the whole thing, and haiku. It’s been a lot of work, and here we are, a year later.

Now with a jolt of the creative process, and all the tools we once needed at our disposal in one form or another, the time has come. Starting off slowly with short stories, we shall eventually work up to the main plot. But we are working again almost daily on one aspect or another.

Throwing up a few sketches atop altered photos of the neighborhood, we have the beginnings of a few short stories. The first story I’m working on is titled “Morality”, and you’ll just have to keep posted for further adventures in the undead City of Roses. In the city of “Dead-Rose”.
